Pricing and charges
Cost
Acorn House provides comfortable and peaceful lodging for up to 6 people tax included. There is a 2 night minimum stay. The following pricing schedule is in effect from October 2011: If you wish to book through http://www.airbnb.com/ follow the hyper link.
50% of the total rent is required to secure your reservation and must be paid at the time of booking.This is fully refundable if cancellation occurs at least 30 days from arrival. It is 50% refundable if cancellation occurs at least 14 days from arrival. It is non refundable if cancellation occurs less than 14 days from arrival. The remainder of the rent for your stay and the security deposit ($200.00) is due 14days before arrival.
Once you check out, the $200.00 (or 250.00 with pets) security deposit will be returned to you within 3 days either by check or through paypal , less any damages assessed.
Full payment of rent and security deposit is expected 14 days before arrival. Secure payments can be made on line using your paypal account or credit card. To make secure payments click on the Palpal logo on the right and go to send money by email. You will need to put my registeresd email address in. If you prefer, I can send you and invoice. Email me or call. Alternately, you can book through Airbnb (preferred method) at http://www.airbnb.com/

It is a good idea to email or call me when you make your reservation and send your holding and security deposit so I can mark the calendar and let you know of any special seasonal pricing updates.

You may check in anytime after 3:00pm. It is possible that you could check in earlier, but call first (828-2549743) as the cleaning must be finished. I will try to make it available as quickly as possible for you within reason. Check out is 11:00am

The keys are kept in a lock box at the front door. The code will be communicated
to you.

Booking Calendar
Go to www.airbnb.com to view the updated calendar for Acorn House. You will need to search for 28803 and then Acorn House. We make most of our bookings through this site. The calendar is frequently updated and is accurate.
About Acorn House
The house was built in 1925, a time when the area was developed by Mr James Madison Chiles. The story goes the roads were mapped out by following the wanderings of his horse in the woods, being that the horse would naturally follow the path of least resistance. You can find out a lot about Mr. Chiles as well as the history of Kennilworth and the historic house he built a few doors up from Acorn House. Follow the link:
KENNILWORTH HISTORY
Whether true or not, the result was a lovely neighborhood in the old fashioned sense with a pleasant network of ancient oak shaded roads skirting the local lake. The name of the house comes from the abundant crop of oak acorns provided every year by the oaks, many of which are over 100 years old.
In 1925 this neighborhood was considered a get away locale for Asheville residents and required coming over Sunset Mountain through the woods. It was a bit of an adventure then. Today there is a tunnel under the mountain making the trip considerably easier, if not less romantic. What must have taken several hours now takes 5 minutes! The march of time has not managed to diminish the charm of the neighborhood, and the abundance of green space makes a wonderful habitat for a large variety of birds, as well as the occassional fox and bear wandering through. The tranquil beauty is augmented by the sound of real church bells from All Soul's Cathedral in Biltmore Village, just a stone's throw away! Acorn House has recently been refreshed and renovoted and provides you with a generous amount of space in a peaceful setting. There are three bedrooms and 1.5 bathrooms. There is a living and dining room on the bottom floor as well as a sun room. The kitchen is fully equipped with pots and pans, utensils, and flatware. A coffee maker, microwave, and water boiler are provided. The stove is electric. A washer and dryer are available if needed. All linens are provided and changed weekly. There is an ironing board and iron available.
The master bedroom has a king bed. The second bedroom has a queen bed. The third room has two twin beds. Acorn House will accomodate 6 people.
The house is equipped with internet wifi and basic cable. There is a 32 inch flat screen television. A collection of games is provided for family entertainment. A large metal deep water canoe is available for use (paddles available upon request), as well as bicycles. There is an idea book with information about local areas of interest.
We want your stay to be enjoyable and relaxing. If there is anything we can do to make your visit better, please ask. We will try our best to make your visit one you will want to repeat. A 10% discount is provided for return guests. Also earn 25.00 off your next stay for each successful referral that completes any length booking (2 day minimum stay), in addition to the 10% for returning. Ask your referral to mention your name and we will make the notation and inform you of your account status with Acorn House. In addition, your referral will receive 10% off if they mention your name and inform us they have been referred by you.

Acorn House Deposit Payments On Line
50% of the total rent is required to hold your reservation. Please note that rent deposits are not refundable if cancelled less than 2 weeks before arrival. Please see the Pricing page for details. You will need to send the money to my email address (williamstanhope1206@gmail.com) through paypal. This address is registered with paypal. Just click on the PayPal logo on the right sidebar, then follow the instructions for sending money via email. It is very easy and you pay no fees.
